GoThe Subject matter of my work ranges from very personal to more broad themed human condition works. The work is bound together by technique and a complex exploration of each subject. "Contiguous Fractured Abstraction" refers to the mechanics of the initial sketch being done as multiple layers, where the images are fractured by each subsequent layer.
No matter what I write about the work it is meant to stand on its own merit. But, If you are interested in the actual process, Please visit the Blog section where several works including the newest are dissected in my work diaries. All Images © 2015 DWRissler
Featuring step by step entries documenting some of my projects. Some projects include daily diaries, while others are images only. I hope you will find the entries interesting and educational concerning my work and process.
The closest I can get to an Artist Statement at the moment would be a description of what Art is to me. Art is creation independent of the inclusion or exclusion of ‘Craft’, but is never without the Artists intent to somehow influence the viewer.
Essentially this means if the Artist wants the viewer to react to ‘Something’ instilled in the work, then it must be Art. This ‘Something’ can be a subtle personal narrative or a cultural taboo meant to shock, or a lonely white bunny in a snowstorm.
Much of my work has taken many months to complete and it is easy to become focused on the laborious task of the mechanics. I find myself continually struggling with the ever vacillating poles of ‘Art’ and 'Craft'. .
As long as I realize the struggle then I will always be making ‘Art’.
